New Study Confirms The Dangers Of Distracted Driving

The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) recently released a new report entitled “Distracted Driving:  What Research Shows And What States Can Do”.  Funded by State Farm Insurance Company, the report highlights the impact that cell phones, iTouches and other electronic devices can have on car crashes.

According to the study, as many as 25% of U.S. car crashes involve drivers distracted by an electronic device.   Talking on cell phones, texting while driving and otherwise playing with a gadget are some of the most common distractions.

With mounting evidence of the dangers that these devices pose to the driving public, it is mind-boggling that New York has still not made using such a device a primary moving violation.  Urge your legislators to vote in favor of Governor Cuomo’s tougher distracted driver legislation.
