Amnesty Program At The Nassau Country Traffic & Parking Violations Agency For Nassau County Parking Tickets

Started today, May 16, 2011, the Nassau County Traffic & Parking Violations Agency will be offering amnesty to parking ticket scofflaws, as reported by us last week.  The amnesty covers all parking tickets returnable at the Nassau County Traffic & Parking Violations Agency located at 16 Cooper Street, Hempstead, and issued before January 1, 2010. The amnesty ends on July 1, 2011.

Scofflaws that come forward will be able to pay their fines without any additional penalty. The program, however, does not include Nassau County red light camera tickets or moving violations. You can check online whether you have any outstanding Nassau County parking tickets.

Once the Amnesty ends, Nassau County will start aggressive enforcement and collection efforts including its Boot And Tow program.  It will target those who owe 3 or more un-paid tickets. Anyone “booted’ will face additional charges for the booting, towing and storage.

There are roughly 359,000 outstanding Nassau County parking tickets representing $49.4 million (excluding penalties) and over 20,000 drivers are eligible for the amnesty.
