As reported by Margot Tohn (author of Park It! Guide), one of her subscribers was issued a New York City parking ticket for standing in a bus stop. He had pulled over to let her out and paused to give her a kiss goodbye. An aggressive parking ticket agent issued the driver a ticket for stopping in a bus stop.
Fortunately, the amourous motorist was able to beat the ticket because it turns out that you can ‘temporarily stand’ at a bus stop to quickly receive and drop off passengers as long as your car doesn’t interfere with a bus.
Be careful however as this defense does not work in ‘No Stopping’ zones.
