A mother and son team were arrested in a Traffic Violations Bureau ticket-fixing scheme. Allegedly, drivers looking to beat their New York City traffic tickets would pay $100 to $500 for the tickets “go away”. The schemers, who worked as TVB clerks, would mis-categorize the tickets as a minor infraction such as “improper operation of a bicycle or skateboard”. They would also change a driver’s ID number, name or address so the ticket would get lost in the system. Supposedly, 1,500 tickets were altered or fixed.
