Motorists in Southampton are now being greeted by two full-sized billboards depicting a Southampton police officer (radar gun in hand) and his police car. The billboard reminds motorists about the applicable speed limit and warns them that it will be strictly enforced in this area. One is located on County Road 39 and warns motorists traveling westbound proceeding toward Sunrise Highway. The other one warns eastbound motorists. Where speed traps have been a financial boondoggle for towns and cities for years, Southampton has to been commended for spending the time and money ($30,000) to warn motorists rather than trap them.
