Tickets are big business in New York City and arranging for one to “fall through the cracks” just got harder.

The New York City Police Department announced that it is implementing a new electronic tracking system for traffic tickets, parking tickets, “C” summons for quality of life violations and environmental violations. The new system will make it very difficult for police officers to fix a ticket for friends or family as every ticket will be scanned into the system (even before issuance) and tracked. In fact, NYPD will be double tracking — at the precinct and borough headquarters. If a ticket goes missing, Internal Affairs will commence a probe.

Don’t throw away your PBA cards, however, as an officer could still give you a break during a car stop.
