It has only been a few months since I reported that DMV fees were being increased. Well, here we go again.

For tickets written on or after July 6, 2009, most fines for guilty pleas by mail or at the Traffic Violations Bureau counter are increasing approximately 25 percent.

For tickets written on or after July 6, 2009, the maximum amount of surcharges per incident is increasing – the cap will be $180, and an additional $20 fee on each ticket continues as before;

Suspension termination fees are increasing to $70. The maximum amount of suspension termination fees paid in a single day is increasing to $400.

The raising of these fines and violations are an indirect way to “tax” people.  DMV continues to be a large “taxing authority” for New York State.
