Warning: Distracted Driver Crackdown Underway (April 6-10, 2018)!

Warning: Governor Cuomo announces a crackdown on distracted drivers from April 6 to 10, 2018 which will result in the issuance of 1,000s of New York electronic device traffic tickets.

The crackdown, called “Operation Hang Up”, is a special enforcement effort to step up patrols and checkpoints targeting drivers on electronic devices from April 6 through April 10. Troopers will be using both marked State Police vehicles and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement (“CITE”) vehicles as part of the operation in order to more easily identify motorists who are using handheld devices while driving. CITE vehicles allow the Trooper to better observe distracted driving violations. These vehicles blend in with every day traffic but are unmistakable as emergency vehicles once the emergency lighting is activated.

At Weiss & Associates, PC, we defend 1,000s of motorists every year from any type of NY traffic ticket throughout the state (including NY texting and cell phone traffic tickets under VTL 1225d and 1225c), but we also hope our clients avoid ANY driving distracted. Please be safe!!
