I enjoy playing golf. It’s great to be outside for an extended period with good friends in a relaxing environment. Even if I am stressed, golf forces me to relax in order to play better. It’s a great panacea.
The problem is that with 3 kids and a wife, it’s hard to justify taking 5-6 hours out of a weekend to hit the links. And, of course, during the week, I am busy helping people make their legal problems simpler and easier.
I therefore only hit the links 5 or 6 times a year and, as a result, my game doesn’t improve very much. Nevertheless, a few days ago I took a rare day off to play in an outing at the Lido Beach golf course. It’s a public course in Long Beach, NY, right on the water with some spectacular views.
Anyway, on a par 3, 175 yard hole, I hit the best golf shot of my life. Using a 5 iron, I hit a perfect drive right at the pin. It landed about 5 feet from the hole and rolled right toward it!!! The shot came 2 feet short of falling in. Adding to the excitement was the fact that four of my other friends who had just finished this hole (along with my foursome) witnessed my great feat.
Anyway, above is a photo of where my shot landed winning me “closest to the pin” honors.
And, oh by the way, I did make the shot for the birdie.
