This Summer, motorists who owe money at Nassau County traffic court located at 16 Cooper Street, Hempstead will be given a one-time “get out of jail free” card. In an effort to close, its budget gap, the County will grant amnesty to scoffflaws. Specifically, during this time, motorists can get the amount they owe for un-paid Nassau County parking tickets reduced.
The precise terms are not yet know but I can unequivocally say that this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime deal. The amnesty is unprecedented in my 20 years as a traffic lawyer fighting Nassau County traffic tickets. So anyone who owes money to the Nassau County traffic court for parking tickets should take advantage of this unique opportunity.
Currently, the County is owed over $40 million in unpaid parking tickets and the amnesty is a pre-cursor to stepped up enforcement against dead-beat motorists including the use of a tire boots. I will post more details when they become available.
