CBS TV reports that 33 accidents have occurred over the last 1 1/2 years at the intersection of 71st Street, Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues. Traffic comes from multiple directions at this unual “bow-tie” intersection in the Upper Westside making it particularly dangerous.
Efforts to get improvements such as a count-down pedestrian clock and longer traffic lights have thus far been un-successful.
