As reported by Yahoo! news, a Lehigh Valley, PA Police Officer said the highest fine he’s ever seen on a traffic ticket was $37,554.54. Bethlehem Police Capt. David Kravatz said the truck ticket was for not getting a “super load” permit. The truck was hauling a 213,000-pound steel cylinder and the ticket was issued to the owner and driver.
The truck sat idle for almost three weeks after it tipped over on March 12, 2009 because a new route, proper permits and a police escort took a while to organize.
