This is my third post about the dangers of texting and driving (aka called “intextication”).
According to a study done by Virginia Tech’s Transportation Institute, texting trucker drivers are a staggering 23 times more likely than non-texting truck drivers to be involved in a crash or a near crash.
Video cameras were installed in participating trucks allowing researchers to view the drivers’ faces while they drove and texted. The video showed that texting was highly distracting and required the drivers to take their eyes off the road.
Texting and drivng is illegal in 14 states with New York soon to be the 15th.
